Question on O-ringing heads | The Diesel Stop
Lots of blown SBFs are out there running o-ringed heads. The idea is the o-ring is compressed, and if the head moves up off the block a tiny bit the o-ring expands to take up the slack, preventing a breach of combustion gasses from the cylinders. $3,500 in labor is a bit steep. $2,500 would be a lot more reasonable.
